Requirement

CloudCADI retrieves AWS cost and usage data using FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification)–aligned Cost and Usage Reports (CUR). AWS CUR provides the most granular and comprehensive billing data and can be configured to export cost and usage information in a standardized FOCUS-compatible format to an Amazon S3 bucket owned by the customer.

Once enabled, AWS automatically delivers daily cost and usage files to the S3 bucket. CloudCADI ingests and normalizes this data to provide consistent, accurate, and multi-cloud FinOps insights while ensuring all billing data remains within the customer’s AWS environment.

AWS Prerequisites

  • An active AWS account
  • Billing and Cost Management access enabled
  • Permissions to:
    • Create and manage AWS Data Exports
    • Create and manage Amazon S3 buckets
    • Deploy resources using AWS CloudFormation
    • Create and manage IAM roles and policies
  • Ability to enable FOCUS-aligned Cost and Usage Reports
  • An S3 bucket owned by the account to store billing exports
