Setting up Log Analytics Workspace and Data Collection Rule

Note

  • Creating "Log Analytics Workspace" and "Data Collection Rule" should be in the same location.

Creating Log Analytics Workspace

  1. Login to azure portal.
  2. Search for Log analytics workspaces.
  3. Select "create" for setting up new log analytics workspace. image.png
  4. Enter the required details like resource group, name and region and select the button "Review + Create". image.png

Setting up of Data Collection Rule

  1. Login to azure portal.
  2. Search for Data Collection Rules.
  3. Click "Create" to set up new data collection rule. image.png
  4. Enter the required details, the region should be same the log analytics workspace. image.png
  5. Then select the "collect and deliver" tab and select "Add datasource". image.png
  6. Select "Performance Counters" in the Data source type. image.png
  7. Then click the "Destination".
    1. Select "Azure Monitor Logs" as the destination type.
    2. Select your subscription.
    3. Select the destination details which is the created log analytics workspace.
  8. And then click "save". image.png
  9. Then review and create the data collection rule.
